EPOXY PRIMER FOR STEEL SUBSTRATE

This product was developed as a primer or anticorrosion primer for ferrous metal substrates. It owes its properties to strong cross-linking of epoxy resin and high zinc content, significantly improving resistance to corrosion, moisture and chemicals. Primer 0195.0293 prepares metal parts for multilayer coating, masking various defects caused during production.

With correct surface preparation, the application of 0195.0293 primer and a suitable Ecopolifix top coat (PH-Series Pes ECO-IND, P-IND Pes, Q-Pes and N-Pe-Sd, depending on the situation) create a cathodic barrier and offer protection by the formation of a “sacrificial anode” effect through the action of zinc, which provides the substrate with protection against corrosion even under the most unfavourable conditions, in accordance with ISO 12944.

TECHNICAL CHARACTERISTICS

  • Color: Grey
  • Finish: smooth, semi-gloss
  • Density: 2,7/2,9 gr/cm3
  • Layer thickness: min.80 pm
  • Mechanical Characteristics: (see dry residue value)

CURING CONDITIONS:

  • 180°C for 15-20 (minutes) when used as a finishing coat.
  • 150°C for 15 (minutes), or 180°C for 3 (minutes) , when used as an undercoat. Partial curing is critical to optimizing powder top coat adhesion.

Warning:

  • Pay special attention if applying this coating near to any gas stove with an open combustion chamber, or working stoves that are either faulty or burning improperly, as oxidation of the top layer of the primer may occur due to the presence gas vapors, which in turn may lead to a reduction of adhesion between the primer and the top coat.
